Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball Falls at Home

the Eastern University women's basketball team Tuesday night in an 83-48 non-conference win in St. Davids. Hannah Tobin and Mandy Kuiken each scored in double figures for the Eagles in the loss.

Eastern had the game within reach with eight and a half minutes to go in the first half when Patrice Freeman knocked down a jump shot to cut the Scarlet Raptors lead to 28-21. A 17-2 run over the next six minutes pushed the visitors to comfortable lead that the Eagles would never challenge. Rutgers Camden connected on 18-20 first half free throws. They collected 15 of their 26 offensive rebounds for the game in the opening period and were able to score 47 points despite shooting just 40%. The Eagles hit just 12-33 field goals in the opening half, but took just six first period free throws.

A bright spot for the Eagles on the evening was the emergence of Shaneen Brown in the post. The freshman from Swarthmore, PA scored five points and collected nine rebounds despite being saddled with foul trouble and playing just ten minutes. Cocah Levis said of Brown, "Shaneen has really worked hard since she's been here. She is very committed to working on her game and being a force on the glass and in the post."

Imani Hafiz led Rutgers Camden with 20 points and Karima Blackwell posted 18 points and 15 rebounds.

The Eagles travel to Gwynedd-Mercy College Thursday night for a date with the PAC favorite Griffins.
