with a double-header split against visiting Gwynedd-Mercy College. After falling 6-2 in the opener, the Eagles bounced back to a convincing 5-0 win in the nightcap.
Ashley Lewis allowed just three hits in the second game to earn the win and salvage the split for the Eagles. Steph Okeson provided all the offense Lewis would need with a two-RBI double in the first. The Eagles stretched their lead to 3-0 when
Karen Hertzog forced home a run with walk in the second.
Alyssa Brubaker knocked home the final two runs of the game with a double in the bottom of the third. Lewis did the rest, as she kept the visiting Griffins from mounting a rally as she never allowed two runners on base in the same inning. Lewis walked just a single batter in the win.
Brubaker helped the Eastern attack jump to a lead in the opener with a lead-off double in the third inning. The speedy shortstop advanced to third on an
Amanda Daveler ground-out and scored on a deep fly from
Jacey Bray.
The Griffins battled back with three straight hits in the top of the fourth. Jen Smull knocked home Ashley Bowie to tie the game. Raychal Weis and Christina Peoples worked quickly through the line-ups until the the Eagles forged a one out rally in the sixth when
Karen Hertzog walked and Steph Okeson singled. Hertzog then scampered home with the go- ahead run on a wild pitch.
The Griffins bounced back in the top of the seventh with five runs on six hits to take the to take the opener. Jen Smull and Kate Cassidy each delivered 2 RBI singles in the rally.
The Eagles (7-11, 6-6) are off until after Easter Break.
