both ends of a double header against Westminster College on Tuesday in Florida.
Game one saw the season pitching debut of junior
Kenny Long. Long pitched well, retiring 9 straight Westminster hitters at one point while striking out 9 batters for the game. Eastern scored runs in the first and third innings, capitalizing on 2 Westminster errors. However, Westminster scored 6 runs in the 7th inning to open a 12-2 lead, which was too much for the Eastern offense to overcome.
Game 2 saw 6 different lead changes, as the 2 teams battled back and forth. The Eastern offense was led by
Davis Murray and
Sean Ciletti. Murray was 4 for 4 with 4 RBI's in the game, and Ciletti went 2 for 3 with a double, triple, and 4 RBI's. Murray and Ciletti each had key hits late in the game to give Eastern the lead heading into the bottom of the 7th. However, a 2-run based loaded single by Chris Kadvan gave Westminster the win.
Eastern returns to action Wednesday night, when they take on regional power Elizabethtown College. The Eagles conclude their spring break trip with a rematch Thursday versus La Roche College.
