were ready to hit in the Eagles' PAC opener at Wesley. Eastern used a
solid pitching effort from
Ashley Lewis and 14 hits to cruise to a 5-1
first game win. Wesley used a seven run sixth inning to force extra
innings and would win the nightcap 8-7.
Lewis struck out five Wolverines and allowed just two hits in a seven
inning outing. Three runs in the third and two more in the fifth were
all the Eagles would need to secure the win behind Lewis. Sophomore
first baseman
Karen Hertzog scored a pair of runs and Steph Okeson had
a pair of RBI in the win.
Game two had an equally promising start as the Eagles scored a single
run in the second inning, a pair of runs in the third, another single
tally in the fourth and three runs in the fifth, but Wesley was able to
get it all back in the sixth. A flurry of extra base hits, coupled with
a pair of Eastern errors resulted in seven runs.
Eastern was able to get a runner to second in the eighth, but two
straight fielder's choice plays resulted in a pair of stranded Eagles.
Raychal Weis took the loss on the mound for the Eagles.
