first year coach Katie Levis. Those forward steps came together this evening as the Eagles took advantage of an aggressive defensive mentality, strong three-point shooting, and good work on the boards to down Lancaster Bible College 84-42 in Lancaster. Senior guard Mandy Kuiken led all scorers with a 20 point effort and Joelle DeCarlo added 18 points in the win.

The Eagles established the tone early with a smothering defense that led to a positive aggressiveness at the offensive end. While the shooting percentages were still a little below where the Eastern staff would want them to be, the young Eastern squad made their presence felt on the offensive glass with 28 offensive rebounds on the game. Led by a pair of Kuiken three-pointers, the Eagles showed good shot selection from the perimeter and hit 4-8 from behind the arc in the opening frame on the way to a 34-22 halftime edge.

At the outset of the second half, the visiting Eagles worked to get opportunities attacking the basket. With the aggressiveness going to the rim and good work on the offensive glass, the Eastern 3-point shooters were able to get good looks from the perimeter. They shot fifteen free throws in the second half, and were able to connect on 6-10 three point attempts. Sophomore guard Emily Reeser scored all 11 of her points in the second half. Reeser opened the half with strong penetration to the basket and finished with 3 of 6 from behind the arc after those opportunities presented themselves.

Sophomore forward Hannah Tobin went six of six from the foul line on the way to a ten point evening. The Eagles worked to a 50-33 rebounding edge on the evening.Coach Levis said of her team's performance on the evening, "It is nice to see things come together tonight. We need to keep building on this." The Eagles will return to action at home on Saturday with a 2:00 non-conference game against FDU-Florham.
