Women's Soccer wins at Neumann

Eastern University Women's Soccer continued their winning ways on the road with a 6-2 win at Neumann. Jill DiRenzo scored the first two goals of the match to help the Eagles take a 5-0 lead in the match before the Knights scored two second half goals to make things interesting.

The Eagles scored in the tenth minute when DiRenzo nodded Chrissy West cross just under the bar for her 11th goal of the year. West picked up her seventh assist of the year on the goal. Direnzo finished her second of the match ten minutes later when she beat West to an Ashley Hackman cross for a powerful one-time finish from six yards out. DiRenzo just missed her third of the match when she headed a Nicole Grindle cross off the crossbar.

Kristen Watson increased the Eastern lead in the 27th minute with her fifth of the year. After the Eagles had earned a corner kick, Hackman won the ball in the box and played it back toward the corner. Watson saw the opportunity and ran the ball into the net. With the assist on the goal, Hackman ties her single season assist mark from last season with 13. The Eagles increased the advantage to four in the 37th minute off a nice combination started from the left side. Corie Brant found all her forward options closed off and swung the ball back to Amy Achey. Achey lifted a ball to the opposite side to Lauren Roe, who nodded it forward for West. West tidily finished her seventh of the year with a knock into the lower corner of the goal. 

The Knights began to gain momentum from their and earned several chances in teh Eastern box in the closing moments of the first half. The Eagles held a 14-5 advantage in shots in the opening frame.

Things looked like they were going to keep going Eastern's way when DiRenzo hit the outside of the near post in the first minute of the second half. Nicole Grindle took advantage of a corner kick in the 52nd minute to tally her fifth of the year on a nice serve to the back post from Steffie Sauder.

The Knights broke into the scoring column on a restart goal from Vicky Segal in the 56th minute of the match. The goal was the first conceded to a PAC team this year for the Eagles. The Knights continued to press and had another chance on frame that Amber Cummins was able to save. Hackman earned the goal back for the Eagles in the 63rd minute on a throw-in from Corie Brant. 

The Knights drew back a goal in the 78th minute off a nice volley from the right side by Brittany Barley into the upper left corner.  The Eagles, who have played eight road games on the year thus far, return to the road Wednesday with a trip to Centenary. The Cyclones are currently tied with the Eagles atop the PAC standings.
