Mike Wilson was named the founding coach for the Eastern University Men's and Women's Track & Field program in the 2015-16 school year. Wilson is also the head coach for the Eastern's Men's and Women's Cross Country teams and has led those programs since the 2011 season.
A 2010 graduate of Eastern, Wilson brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the university track and cross country programs. Throughout his track and field career, Wilson has competed in nearly every event on the track, and boasts national-level personal bests in his mid-distance and long-distance specialties. On the cross country course, Wilson earned two first-team all-conference honors - finishing as high as 3rd during his 2007 sophomore season - before being sidelined with injuries during the bulk of his junior year
During his high school years, Wilson attended Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, specializing in the mid-distance and distance events. The Ohio native was named an All-State runner in 2005 and won numerous individual conference championship titles, regional awards, and all-conference honors in everything from the 4x400m relay to the 3200m run.
Because Eastern did not have a track program when he was a student, Wilson ran unattached in track events and specialized in the 800m, 1500m and 5000m runs. Wilson began coaching track as a volunteer at nearby Conestoga High School in 2009.
