Ashlyn Llerandi has joined the Eastern University Track and Field coaching staff for the 2016-2017 season. Originally from northern New Jersey, Llerandi ran cross country, swam, and was a mid-distance runner, intermediate hurdler and pole vaulter at Ridgewood High School ('07). In various years and events, she was named All-County and competed at the NJ State Meet of Champions.
Llerandi is a 2011 graduate of Villanova University, where she was happily able to focus solely on the pole vault. She broke the school record 4 times, ultimately setting a personal record of 13'6" (4.11 meters) at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) meet. She was a two-time top 3, first-team Big East Conference finisher and qualifier for the NCAA Division I East Regional Meet.
While at Villanova, Coach Ashlyn double-majored in Psychology and Elementary Education with a Spanish minor, studying abroad in Cádiz, Spain in 2009. In the years following graduation, she taught as a substitute teacher in Springfield, PA, served as an assistant track coach at Lower Merion High School, and taught English in Seville, Spain. Now a high school Spanish teacher and track/swim coach, Llerandi is thrilled to use her knowledge in the pole vault to push the Eastern Eagles' pole vaulting program forward.
