Sarah Birchmeier will continue to be involved with the Eastern Univdersity Sofball program as an assistant coach where she will have the opportunity to serve alongside Terri Adams.
Birchmeier served the program as an interim head coach for the 2019 season. In her first year, the Eastern hitters improved by 60 percentage points and had 111 more total bases and 96 more hits. With their home site under renovation, the Eagles played only two home contests in 2019.
She joined the Eastern University softball staff after a successful playing career at Wilkes University. She graduated with high honors with a degree in Spanish and Secondary Education and earned NFCA Scholar All-America honors as a catcher and outfielder for the Colonels.
A .304 hitter for her career, Birchmeier earned Second Team All-MAC Freedom Honors as a catcher and as a utility player.
She will be pursuing a masters degree in Multi-Cultural Education at Eastern.
