Luca Marinucci enters his second season on the Eastern University Baseball coaching staff in 2026-27, serving as the program’s Infield Coach and Assistant Hitting Coach.
A native of Mullica Hill, New Jersey, Marinucci is a former Eagle who competed as an infielder for Eastern from 2022-2025. During his playing career, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in Marketing through Eastern’s College of Business and Leadership, graduating with honors in the spring of 2025. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Business Analytics at Eastern University.
In his first season on staff, Marinucci played an integral role in one of the most successful campaigns in program history. The Eagles established a new single-season school record with 26 victories while continuing to raise the standard across multiple facets of the game.
Working primarily with the infielders, Marinucci helped guide a defensive unit that posted a .976 fielding percentage during MAC Commonwealth play, a significant improvement from the previous season’s .958 mark. Offensively, he assisted in the development of a lineup that produced two All-MAC Commonwealth First Team selections in Thomas Kozlusky and Trent MacDougall, while MacDougall also earned NCAA Region V All-Region Second Team honors. Sophomore JJ Matos and first-year David Garrido were also recognized with All-MAC Commonwealth Honorable Mention accolades.
Under Marinucci’s guidance, the Eagles’ offense finished the season with a .309 batting average, .413 on-base percentage, .435 slugging percentage, and an .848 OPS. As the team’s first base coach, he also contributed to one of the nation’s premier base-running attacks, helping Eastern steal a program-record 142 bases in 40 regular-season games ranking third nationally during the 2026 season.
Beyond his on-field responsibilities, Marinucci plays an active role in the program’s recruiting efforts alongside Head Coach Scott Renauro and Recruiting Coordinator Matthew Esquijerosa. He assists with identifying and evaluating prospective student athletes while helping continue the program’s upward trajectory both on the field and in the classroom.
