Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Stopped at No. 8 York

YORK, Pa.— Despite 11 first-half saves from goalie Brennan Kirn, Eastern University Men's Lacrosse was unable to keep up with the No. 8 York College Spartans in a 20-7 MAC Commonwealth loss at York. The host Spartans scored the final six goals of the game to pull away.

York (11-1, 2-0) won all nine first-quarter faceoffs and jumped out to a 6-0 lead before Levi Souder finally broke through with his first of two on the day with 88 seconds left in the quarter. The Eagles closed the gap to 6-2 with a transition goal after a save from Kirn. Jack Bradley earned the assist on the Gavin Stark goal.

York outscored the Eagles 4-1 in the second quarter. Brett Gougler scored the only Eastern tally in the middle of the frame.

After York scored the first four goals of the second half, the Eagles found their best stretch of the game to close the third. Levi Souder opened the four-goal burst. Andrew Collins then put in his second of the year on a man-up effort off a feed from Gavin Stark. Gougler scored his second of the day in the final thirty seconds and Andrew Horensky turned an interception into his first career goal with only seconds to play in the frame.

Though the Eagles had a 13-7 edge in fourth-quarter shots, the Spartans hit their targets and scored on each of their six shots on frame.

Eastern will host Stevenson on Saturday. The Mustangs (4-7, 3-0) won just once out of league, but they have scored 82 goals in their three conference wins.
