IMMACULATA, Pa.— With Marywood out players with injury, Saturday's scheduled doubleheader turned into an early-morning single match between contending teams in the Atlantic East. WIth a pair of first-half touchdowns and a smothering defense, Eastern University Flage Football (13-2, 11-1) secured a season sweep with a 13-0 win over Main Line and Atlantic East rival Immaculata.
Kira Green rushed for one touchdown and threw for another.
On their opening possession, the Eagles scored on a 16-yard Green pass to
Jeriyah Johnson. With ten catches for 103 yards on the day, Johnson has 77 catches for 16 TD's and 660 yards. After the try failed, the result stood in doubt. The Eagles doubled their lead on a 16-yard run from Green and converted the try on a sweep from Kyla Massenberg. Green finished 19-for-27 for 167 yards. She added 45 yards on the ground.
Massenberg again led the Eastern defense. The sophomore rusher tallied nine flag-pulls including two sacks.
Damiyae Moyet finished with seven tackles and a pass break up. The Mighty Macs (11-3, 10-3) finished with 170 total yards. Eastern, Immaculata, and Marymount are all safely in the top four with one weekend of Atlantic East action left. If the Eagles beat Penn State Schuylkill in next week's opener, Eastern will play Marymount with the top seed on the line at 12:30. Marymount won the first meeting of the year between the two teams, but Marymount dropped an early season decision against Immaculata.
