Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Falls at Home to Arcadia

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.— In a rare morning start, Eastern University Men's Lacrosse fell behind early and could not rally in a 15-5 home loss to the Arcadia University Knights. Brett Williamson scored twice and Duncan Starmer had a goal and two assists.

The Eagles (1-5)  struggled out of the gates as Arcadia (3-1) used a ten-man ride and control of the faceoff x to dominate possession and launch 19-of-the-22 first-quarter shots. Even with the field tilted, Brennan Kirn and the Eastern defense limited the damage. Arcadia led 4-1 after one quarter. Two of those goals came with an extra man. Kirn made six of his 13 saves in the first quarter.

Williamson scored from Frankie Fanelli midway through the period. Joshua Jordan scored his first of the year on a long shot to open the second, before the Knights answered twice. Brennan Kaut closed the gap to 6-3 on a nice bounce shot with 2:24 on the clock and had the ball on a faceoff win., but a turnover turned into an Arcadia goal and the Eagles trailed 7-3 at the break.

The Knights scored four times int he opening ten minutes of the second half before Williamson and Starmer scored on back-to-back possessions with less than four minutes to play.  Any hope of an Eastern rally dimmed significantly with a goal from the Knights late in the third. Arcadia scored three more times in the fourth for the final.

Arcadia won the ground-ball battle 35-21 and earned wins on 15-of-23 faceoffs. Sean Dendall had three caused turnovers and five ground balls to lead the Eastern defense.

Though several of the recent games have been close, today was the first time Arcadia has beaten Eastern in Men's Lacrosse.

The Eagles are at The University of Mary Washington on Wednesday.
