Ryan Mansueto and
Nicholas DeLorenzo each garnered runner-up honors, and
Jackson Orrell took home third place at the D. Kenneth Ober Invitational on Saturday. The Eagles finished in sixth out of nine competing teams with a score of 99.5.
Mansueto began the day with a 12-1 major decision victory over McDaniel's Neil Sharma, before recording a pair of 3-0 win by fall over Shippensburg's Kaden Casey and Stevens Sidney Dillion to reach the championship match at 141. The junior now sits at 23-10 in his first season with Eastern.
DeLorenzo did not give up a single point in his first matches of the day. He began with a 17-0 major decision win over Stevens' Bodhi McCormack, before shutting out Elizabethtown's Johnny Mauer with a 14-0 victory via fall. He reached the championship round with a 5-0 win by decision over Delaware Valley's Luke Moore. DeLorenzo is not 19-9 on the season.Â
Orrell won four of his five matches on the day to improve to 16-8. He won his first match over Messiah's Corbin Hutchinson by fall and followed that up with a 4-2 victory by decision over Stevens' Naci Robinson. After losing his third match, he went on to win his next two to claim third place at 133. He beat McDaniel's Stone Yuen 6-1 by fall, and led 5-1 over Messiah's Tyler Ratledge before the match was called due to injury.Â
At 174,
Darrale Barrett took home fourth place with wins via fall, major decision, and decision over Stevens' Kenneth Honnig, PCT's Gavin Gomes, and Stevens' Christopher Piazza, respectively. At 184, DeShawn Woodhouse earned his first two wins of his collegiate career, including a 12-7 win by decision over McDaniel's Lincoln Wendel.
Eastern Men's Wrestling will be back in action next weekend at the Lackawanna Community College Dual.Â
