ST.DAVIDS, Pa.— When the Albright College Lions visited St. Davids to take on Eastern Unviersity Volleyball in 2023, the visitors caught a veteran Eastern team off its guard and forced the Eagles to a fourth set. This year, the young Eastern squad would not fall into the same trap. Led by stellar hitting performances from
Hannah Pringle and
Alexis Standford, Eastern hit .429 in a decisive three-set win.
Pringle saw 15-of-18 swings turn into Eastern points. The senior from East Greenville, Pa. has had several matches over .500 in her career, but her error-free night tonight enabled her to post a career-best .833 hitting percentage. With the 15 kills she moves to within two kills of the 1300 plateau. Only eight players in program history have recorded over 1300 kills.
In the opening set, Eastern served aggressively on the way to a 25-8 win.
Sarah Furey served three aces and the Eagles only served five rotations. Eastern hit .421 and had four total blocks in the frame.
Veronica Faber was part of three blocks.
Eastern hit .560 with just a single hitting error in a 25-14 win in the second set. Pringle was six-for-six, and
Josie Arezina added five kills.
Pringle continued to dominate in the third. All five of her swings found the floor. Standford also had five kills as the Eagles won 25-12. Eastern was successful on 10-of-13 sideout chances.
Viviana Fragoso finished with six digs and six assists, and
Kallie Rogers had 15 assists and four aces. Albright (4-8, 1-1) hit only .030 for the match.
Eastern (11-4, 1-1) will host Misericordia on Friday night.
