GLENSIDE, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Soccer saw it's unbeaten run to start the season come to an end with a 1-0 loss at Arcadia. The Knights (6-1-2) found the only goal of the match on a moment of real quality in the 80th minute.
The Eagles (6-1-2) had not lost a regular-season game since falling to Arcadia last October. Eastern won its final five regular-season games last year and was unbeaten through eight to start the 2025 campaign.
This afternoon's contest featured lots of good play in the midfield. While both teams enjoyed stretches of possession, the Knights had an edge in shots and field position. Arcadia had an 11-4 edge in first-half shots.
After a stretch where Eastern had good possession, the Knights finally broke through with less than ten minutes to play. Ciara Garrett came off the right side and hammered a left-footed blast into the upper corner for what would turn into the game-winner.
Faith Leake finished with ten stops in goal.
The Eagles will continue in this challenging stretch with a 3:30 home match on Tuesday against the Misericordia University Cougars. Misericordia was No. 4 in Division III but has dropped matches to No. 1 Messiah and No. 15 Rochester.
