Women's Volleyball Falls at Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. — Eastern University Women's Volleyball (6-2) dropped a tightly contested straight-set decision to Man Line rival Haverford College. The Fords (7-2) fought off a set point in the second set and eventually earned a 30-28 win to grab control of the match. Hannah Pringle led the Eastern attack with 14 kills and a Viviana Fragoso had 14 digs.

With her 14 kills tonight, Pringle moved into Eastern's career top-ten for kills. She has 1188 kills in 97 career matches.

The Eagles hit just .152 in dropping the opener 25-21.

The second set was close throughout. The Eagles jumped to 7-2 lead, but the hosts rallied and pulled ahead at 11-10and eventually led 17-13. The Eagles trailed 24-22, but a kill from Josie Arezina and a Haverford error brought the Eagles level. Viviana Fragoso earned a set point with a service ace.

The Eagles, however, could not capitalize. The two teams traded sideouts before Haverford gained the upper hand with sideout and a point on serve to lead 27-26. Pringle delivered a kill for hideout to tie the set at 27-27, but the Fords had a sideout to answer. Alexis Standford tied it at 28, but the Eagles failed to score on serve and the Fords closed out the set with a point on a solo block.

The Fords hit .400 and controlled the action on their home court on the way to a 25-14 win in the fourth.

Eastern holds a slight lead in the all-time rivalry, but the Fords have now won six of the last seven in the series.

The Eagles will look to get back on the winning track with three tough matches at the University of Scranton this weekend.
