DALLAS, Pa. — Eastern University Men's Wrestling remained well ahead of schedule with another solid outing at the Cougar Classic hosted by Misericordia University. The Eagles put six wrestlers into semifinals and had three reach the finals in the event.
After advancing in the early rounds with a technical fall and a major decision
Ryan Mansueto earned a 4-1 decision in his semifinal at 141 pounds. He fell in the championship bout to Andrew Schaen from Ursinus. In the same bracket, Torkon Kai won his first two matches before falling to Schaen in the final. Kai won by technical fall in the consolation semifinal and earned a third-place finish with a 20-17 decision over Jacob Grzybek of York.
Gabriel Whittington won a match in the consolation bracket at 149 pounds before dropping a 10-9 decision in the next round.
Brayden Castillo won his first three matches before falling to Braden Kmak from Ursinus in the Championship bout at 157.
At 165 pounds,
Nicholas DeLorenzo won by technical fall in his first match, a major decision in his second match and a 15-9 win on points in his semifinal. He lost 12-9 in extra time in the Championship match.
At 174 pounds
Darrale Barrett reached the semifinals with an 88 second pin in the quarterfinals. He fell by points in his next two matches.
The Eagles will have a short break for Thanksgiving before heading to York on Dec. 5th for the New Standard Invitational.
