Football to Open NCAA Run in Second Round at F & M

After securing sole possession of the MAC Championship on Saturday, Eastern University Football gathered int he gym to learn its NCAA Opponent. They had to wait pretty late in the selection show to hear their name, but there was cause for celebration when they learned their fate.

With a 9-1 overall mark, Eastern was one of 24 teams to earn a first-round bye. The Eagles will play at Franklin & Marshall College in the second round on Nov. 29.

Though the Diplomats have been playing football since 1887, the Lancaster program, like Eastern, is making its first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. In their final game of the regular season, F & M went for a two-point conversion in overtime to beat Johns Hopkins 29-28 and secure the Centennial Conference crown.

After the announcement head Coach Billy Crocker announced to his team how important yesterday's win at Stevenson was and how the bye will be important for the Eagles to get some guys rest and other guys healthy as they prepare.

Game information will be released early this week.
