Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Drops D1 Test at Rider

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J.— A bad stretch early in the second half erased an excellent first half as Eastern University Men's Basketball dropped an 86-54 decision at Division I Rider. The Eagles (2-1) made six first-half 3-pointers and held a lead going to the final second of the first half. The Broncos (1-2) made 12-of-15 shots in a 30-to-3 run to start the second half.

While the game stands as an exhibition for Eastern, it is a countable contest for the Broncos. Rider started the season with games against Virginia and Rutgers and will be traveling to Texas to take on the University of Texas and the University of Houston. Rider shot 65 percent from the floor after halftime.

The Broncos went inside to Mohamad Diallo early. Their 7-footer gave them a 9-2 lead before Connor Fleet connected from distance. The Eagles steadily closed the gap and went up 22-20 on a DaRon Sherman 3-pointer. The Eagles led 32-28 on a 3-pointer from Mason Lewis with four minutes left in the half.

Fleet and Sherman each had 10 points at half and Dejuan Taylor had eight. Justin Ezeukwu finished the game with 10 points. Eastern played 17 different players in the second half.

The Eagles are at Gwynedd-Mercy University on Wednesday.
