Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Tops Centenary

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.–Eastern University Men's Soccer scored the final four goals of the match to pull away to a 5-1 win over the visiting Centenary University Cyclones. Five different Eastern players scored goals and João Tarabal picked up a pair of assists as the Eagles (3-3-1) put their biggest goal-scoring effort since October of 2022 on the books.

The Eagles opened the scoring in the 12th minute on a rebound goal from Evan Cope. Tarabel did much of the work on the goal with a nice dribbling move to the edge of the box. His shot was on frame, but appeared to be available for the goalkeeper to handle. Cope, however, kept the chase alive and needed just the slightest bobble to poke in his 23rd career tally.

Though the Eagles had much of the play, the Cyclones equalized on a penalty kick at the half hour mark after Sam Provido slid to block a shot and was called for a hand ball.

Undeterred, the Eagles bounced back with a goal from Ethan Pfau. Justin Shaffer set up the pass with a switching pass. The Eagles had several more chances turned away before earning a corner kick with three minutes to play. Carson Cope curled the restart directly into the upper corner for his first collegiate goal.

The Eagles had a 12-6 edge in first half shots.

Zach Chaplin made it 4-1 with a headed goal of a Tarabel restart in the 74th minute. Manny Pak found the lower left corner for his first goal of the season. Jared Oglesby earned the assist with a nice touch pass at the edge of the box.

Ty Bleiler made four saves to pick up the win.

The win is the 14th straight in the series for the Eagles. Eastern will host Cairn University on Tuesday.
