Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Falls to Alvernia

ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Lacrosse scored four times, but the Eagles were unable to slow down the visiting Alvernia University Golden Wolves in a 21-4 loss. Ava Weiman scored twice and Jordana Fredo posted a career-high 13 saves.

The Eagles had their best moments to close the first quarter. Weiman rolled the crease to dunk home her eighth goal of the year with less than a minute to play in the period. Gracie Horton won the ensuing draw and found Emerson Shauger in the midfield. Shauger moved through traffic and hit Teresa Gailey cutting through the fan. Gailey ripped home an overhand effort for her eighth goal of the season.

Despite the two goals, the Eagles still trailed 8-2 at the quarter with Alvernia standout Hailey Lackner scoring five of her eight goals in the first 15 minutes.

After the Golden Wolves (4-9, 1-3) scored the opening two goals of the second quarter, Horton put awy an unassisted effort to pull the Eagles to within a seven at 10-3. Alvernia scored the final five goals of the half to create a running clock situation in the game. Lackner scored her final goal of day moments after halftime.

Weiman tallied her second of the day on a quick-stick finish off a feed from Shauger late.

The Eagles (2-10, 0-4) will play at Albright on Saturday.
