Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse Falls at #13 Stevens

HOBOKEN, N.J.– After holding the 13th ranked Stevens Institute of Technology Ducks  to only six goals in the first 26 minutes, Eastern University Men's Lacrosse was unable to contain an overwhelming attack over the final 32 minutes and fell, 22-7. Gavin Stark had three goals and an assist to pace the Eastern attack.

With the hosts coming in off a tough defeat at the hands of the third -ranked Tufts University Jumbos, the Eagles knew they would have an attentive opponent. The Ducks (8-2) scored four times in the opening six minutes of the match before Stark grabbed a goal back just over midway through the first period. Stevens scored twice more before Connor Bachman added an unassisted tally late int he first quarter.

Early in the second period, Nick Littzenberger set up Stark for a goal and the two teams traded defensive stops. The Eagles had a 13-11 edge in second period shots, but Steven's goalie Kevin Holtby made six stops and the Eagles never got closer than 6-3. Stevens broke through with two goals within 30 seconds of each other with two minutes left in the frame. Nicholas Fanelli had two shots hit the pipe in the last minute of the half and the game went to halftime with Stevens up 8-3.

While the Eagles had a great third quarter at Cabrini last Friday night, their 3rd quarter tonight did not go well. The Eagles got goals from Christopher Fanelli and Brett Williamson in the frame, but the Ducks poured in nine goals on 11 shots.

Including a goal with 48 seconds to play, Stevens outscored the Eagles 5-2 in the fourth quarter. Stark and Christopher Fanelli had the goals.

The Eagles (3-6) will play Hartwick on Saturday.
