ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– In celebrating senior day, Eastern University Field Hockey played right with the visiting Widener University Pride but dropped a 3-1 decision int he final game of the year fro both teams. The Eagles had an 11-6 edge in penalty corners and a 15-10 advantage in shots, but the Pride scored a goal in each of the first three periods and hung on for the win.
The Eagles (5-13, 0-7) ahd a flurry of first-quarter penalty corner chances, but the visitors stood. their ground and earned a penalty corner opportunity of their own late in the frame. Widener's Maddie Hoyer scored for an early edge. The Pride doubled that lead midway through the second period. Agani the eagle had an advantage in penalty corners, but the Pride led 2-0 at the break.
Eastern's only penalty corner of the third quarter came early, and they converted.

Abby Hakes tucked home a rebound to close the Widener lead to a single goal.
Late in the third, period
Paige Brouse made a huge defensive save on a penalty corner to keep the Eagles within a goal. Brouse finsihed the year tied for the team lead with five defensive saves.
The guests found their final goal late in the third on a redirection from Briana Rocha that snuck across the line but did not reach the backboard.
Angelina Catania dove back and swept the ball away from the goal, but the official was on the play to see the ball cross the line and again the Eagles trailed by two.
The Eagles pushed forward late with a 5-1 edge in fourth quarter shots, and they had both of the penalty corners int he final frame, but they were unable to find the back of the cage.
