Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Falls at Stockton

GALLOWAY, N.J.– Eastern University Field Hockey scored the first goal of the game, but the host Stockton University Ospreys (7-5)  scored the final five goals of the contest to claim a 5-0 non-league win. CJ Summa scored the only Eastern goal of the contest on a penalty stroke.

The Eagles (5-6) earned the penalty stroke after an extended period of possession in the Stockton end. The Eagles lost the ball, but Summa intercepted a pass and was in alone. Stockton's goalie kept the ball out of the net, but fouled Summa in the process. The rookie forward put away her team-best 12th goal of the year to give the Eagles the early lead. Her total is the best by an Eastern player since Abigail Geisler scored 14 times in 2019.

The hosts hit the target three times in a four-minute stretch int he second quarter to grab control of the game. Stockton scored on three of their four shots in the frame. Stockton scored their first two goals on penalty corners.

While the third quarter was played mostly in the midfield and the Eagles had two penalty corners to just one for the hosts, Stockton tacked on two more to put the game out of reach.

The Eagles have scored at least one goal in every game this season.

The Eagles start into MAC Commonwealth play with home game against Messiah University on Friday.
