This Saturday, Eastern University will host its first football game. After years of consideration, the University made the commitment to add the program in the fall of 2021 and hired Head Coach
Billy Crocker in December of the at same year. After a preliminary season as a club sport, the Eagles begin play in the Middle Atlantic Conference at 7:00 pm against the Alvernia University Golden Wolves.
Crocker's squad dropped a tough 41-21 decision at The College of New Jersey in the program's historic first game last Saturday. The Eagles, without a single player who had played in a college game, were within a single score and had the ball in the fourth quarter before the Lions scored twice to seal the result.
Saturday's historic home test will be at the iconic Franklin Field in Philadelphia. With construction delays on the Valley Forge facility, there was a need to find an alternative venue for this opening season. The chance to play in the historic venue will provide a great opportunity for Eastern players and fans in this first season.
