ASTON, Pa. - In a tightly contested match on Saturday, Eastern Men's Tennis came up one point short in a 5-4 loss to the Neumann University Knights. The Eagles took two out of the three doubles matches, but the host Knights won four matches in singles competition.
Jacob DeVage and
Jeffrey Day put together a dominant performance in a 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, while
Jacob Craig and
Shane Witzer took care of business at No. 3 doubles with an 8-3 triumph. In singles play, Day recorded his second win of the day with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 2 singles, and
Ethan Goonewardene won at No. 6 singles, 6-3, 6-4.Â
The Knights recorded wins at No. 1, 3, 4, and 5 singles, with their final point coming at No. 2 doubles.Â
The Eagles (0-2) conclude their fall season at home next Saturday against Penn State Brandywine. First serve is set to begin at 11:00 am.Â
