ANNVILLE, Pa. - In Eastern Softball's second game of the 2023 MAC Commonwealth Tournament, the No. 1 seeded LVC Dutchmen scored early and often in an eventual 12-1, five-inning victory. The host Dutchmen (31-7) scored five runs in the first and added seven runs in the third to hand the Eagles their first loss of postseason play.
LVC scored its five runs in the first on three RBI singles, an RBI double, and an RBI groundout. In the third, the Dutchmen scored its seven runs on nine hits, including three for extra bases.
Eastern broke the no-hit bid in the fourth on a one-out single from
Mackenzie Laub, her third hit of the afternoon.
Tori Hook followed with an RBI double to left center, plating Laub for Eastern's lone run.
Maeve Colligan added a pinch-hit double in the fifth, but the Eagles would get any closer.
Eastern (22-13) will continue tournament play tomorrow afternoon. The Eagles will play either Stevenson or York in an elimination game beginning at 1:00 pm.
