Men's Volleyball Falls in Season Finale at Wilkes

WILKES-BARRE, Pa.– Eastern University Men's Volleyball fell in four sets at Wilkes University in the final match of the year for both sides. Lucas Adam had 16 kills and Jeremiah Pha recorded 45 assists, 11 digs and a block filling in at the setter position.

With Chris Miller down for the year with injury, the Eagles played just seven players. As they did this weekend, Tiger Winston stayed on the right side and Pha set. Winston, in just his fifth start hit .385 with seven kills and 10 digs.

The host Colonels (18-10, 3-6) hit .304 in the opening set and ran out to a 1-0 lead with a 25-16 win. The Eagles had just seven kills in the opening frame.

Both teams were able to sideout with incredible efficiency in the second set. Eastern had the only two-point lead of the set at 8-6. Both teams had set points late, but the Eagles saved one and Wilkes saved two before Eastern won the second set 29-27 with Winston serving. Josiah Cash, Andres Suarez Batista, and Adam each had four kills. The Eagles were perfect on serve receive and had just a single service error int he set.

Wilkes won the critical third set by pulling away late. The two teams were tied at 18-18, but the Colonels scored four of the final five points in the set to earn the 25-21 win.

In a fourth set full of runs, Wilkes had more and pulled away to a 25-18 win.

The Eagles finish the year with a program-record 10 wins and will look to build on that mark with a strong recruiting class for next year.
