SWARTHMORE, Pa, - Eastern Women's Lacrosse began its 2023 season on Saturday against a strong Swarthmore squad. The Eagles fell 15-1 to the Garnet, but battled hard and showcased many positives despite the final score.

Eastern Head Coach Mikala Gillespie was particularly pleased with the Eagles' defensive play and the performance of first-time goalkeeper Annie Gough. The junior from Holly Springs, N.C. made eight stops in her collegiate debut. Senior Caitlyn Quizon netted Eastern's lone goal in the fourth quarter.

Eastern will be back in action on Saturday, March 11 for its home opener at Olson Field. The Eagles will host Immaculate beginning at 11:00 am.
