ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Field Hockey honored its seven seniors before the match. That added excitement was not enough to lift the Eagles past an Albright College Lions team that was fighting for a spot in the MAC Commonwealth Tournament. The visiting Lions scored twice in each of the even-numbered quarters to claim the 4-0 win.
The Eagles battled through the opening frame, and despite giving up a 5-0 shot advantage had a couple dangerous forays into the Albright circle.
Abby Agapito made three of her 11 saves in the frame and fellow senior
Grace Wise helped her out with a defensive save.
The Lions finally broke through on a well-executed penalty-corner goal in the 18th minute. The first three Albright goals all came off penalty corner opportunities. The Lions doubled their lead with less than two minutes to play in the half.
That second goal came only moments after the Eagles had a great chance on a shot from
Kara Frantz that slipped just wide after a penalty corner. Albright had a 12-2 edge in first-half shots.
The Lions scored midway through the fourth and added a late score for the final result.
