Men's Volleyball Wins Season Opener Against Immaculata


ST. DAVIDS, PA. - Eastern Men's Volleyball hit .465 as a team and had four players with over five kills in their season-opening win against Immaculata. Justin Flor led the team with 12 kills and seven digs.

The Eagles jumped to a fast start with powerful strikes and side-outs to take the first set 25-11. Flor had six kills in the first set while fellow rightside hitter Max Bagileo followed with four. The men continued their momentum into the second set with a 25-10 win as the team had a .667 success rate on attacks. The junior hitters took charge in the second, as Lucas Adam recorded four of his six kills and Josiah Cash powered through with three of his nine kills of the game. All were possible by the sophomore setter Chris Miller dished out 12 of his 35 assists in the period and added to the defensive side with five digs.

With the Eagles up two sets, the Might Macs kept the game close in the third. Immaculata came back with three straight services aces from Garrett Pepper to cut the Eagles lead to 7-8. With both teams going back-in-fourth in scoring, Eastern pulled away with kills from Jeremiah Pha, Flor, and Bagileo to extend their lead to 15-9. The team didn't look back as they continued with great passes from Miller took the third set 25-14.

Head coach Harry Bitzberger gets his first win of his career with the men's volleyball team, with a beautiful display of offense and defense.

Eastern will continue their stay at home on Saturday with a tri-match against Marymount and Elmira.
