Volleyball Wins at Albright

READING, Pa.– Eight Eastern University Women's Volleyball players recorded multiple kills as the Eagles rolled to a three-set win at Albright College. Elle Jiron-Bujanda had 26 assists to lead the Eagles to a seventh consecutive win.

With Hannah Pringle and Logan Martin bombing from the pins, the Eagles (9-2, 2-0) set the tone early with a 25-7 win in the opening set. The two outside hitters had nine kills in 16 swings as the Eagles put together impressive service runs to build a 21-4 lead. Bridgette Kelly, Jiron-Bujanda, Trinity Gruber, Grace Casagrande, and Emma Ditman each served for multiple points. The Eastern passers, meanwhile did not allow an Albright point on serve until the second-to-last point in the set.

With several line-up changes for the second set, the Eagles started a little slower, but aggressive service and good defense helped the Eagles to erase an early 9-7 Albright edge. The Eagles grabbed the lead for good on a Viviana Fragoso ace. Rachel Curran had a team-high four kills as the Eagles rolled to a 25-15 win.

Peyton Wheeler hit .556 with six kills in the third set to lead the Eagles to a 25-14 for the match. Grace Casagrande was credited with 21 digs to lead the Eastern defense.

"The team was efficient tonight in our serve-receive and put good pressure on their offense with our serving.  Logan and Hannah started the match hitting .500 combined, and then Rachel and Peyton took over and continued the strong offense. As a team, we have talked a lot about controlling the tempo and energy. We did a good job with that tonight."

The win is the seventh in a row for the Eagles. They look forward to a challenging weekend at Juniata College where they will take on a pair of one-loss teams in the host Juniata Eagles and the Muskingum Muskies.
