YORK, Pa.– Eastern University Men's Lacrosse fell behind early and was unable to recover in a 21-6 MAC Commonwealth loss at No. 6 York College.
Christopher Fanelli scored twice to lead the Eastern attack.
The Spartans owned possession early and converted that possession into goals. York won the first five faceoffs of the game and built a 5-0 lead with just over three minutes gone. The Eagles were only able to win 9-of-31 faceoffs in the game, and that possession deficit hurt throughout. York led 8-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Five minutes into the second quarter,
Nicholas Fanelli set up his brother for the first Eastern goal of the game.
Kyle Mulrane scored a man-up goal late to send the Eagles to halftime down 12-2.
Nick Litzenberger and
Christopher Fanelli each scored in the third and
Connor Bachman and
Siam Owen added goals in the fourth but the Eagles were unable to make up ground on the Spartans.
Ethan Myers stopped 16 shots in the loss before giving way to
Connor Evans and
William Blum for the final quarter.
Today's away game was the seventh consecutive away-from-home test for the Eagles. Eastern (3-7, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) will host Lebanon Valley at 4:00 pm on Olson Field on Wednesday. Eastern's last home game was on Feb. 26.
