Women's Lacrosse Stopped at Lancaster Bible

LANCASTER, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Lacrosse was unable to recover from a slow start and dropped a 15-11 decision at Lancaster Bible College. Hailey Ferry and Ellie Pruitt each scored four goals.

The Eagles won six-of-11 draw controls in the opening period, but the host Chargers (4-0) scored twice int he final minute of the quarter and led 7-3. The four-goal edge would prove to be the difference in the game.

Ferry opened the scoring and scored twice more in the first quarter, but the Chargers scored on seven-of-ten first quarter shots.

Lancaster Bible stretched the lead to 11-5 early in the third quarter before the Eagles started to chip away at the deficit. Emerson Shauger scored twice in a minute, and Pruitt and Caitlin Quizon also scored in the third quarter.

Pruitt scored twice in the fourth quarter, and the Eagles briefly closed the gap to three goals with eight minutes left, and Kelly Steenstra made five stops in the fourth, but the Eagles were unable to close the gap further.

Cecilia Wilson finished with a game-high 12 draw controls and Pruitt and Ferry each caused three turnovers.

The Eagles (0-3) will host Swarthmore College on Saturday.
