Eastern Smash Falls to Old Dominion

ST. DAVIDS, Pa. - Eastern's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate dropped a hard-fought 2-1 decision to Old Dominion University on Thursday evening in its penultimate contest of the regular season.

The Eagles started strong in game one, with first-year player Blaise Bernal taking four stocks in the early going. The match tightened as it progressed, but Eastern was able to earn an extremely close victory with only one stock remaining.

Old Dominion dominated the second contest, setting up a competitive third match. Game three was similar to game one with both teams trading stocks in the early going. Seth Mitchell battled valiantly at the end of the match, bringing Old Dominion down to its final stock, but the Eagles were unable to close it out.

Based on the results of next week's match, the Eagles could possibly be looking at playoff contention. Eastern will wrap up its regular season slate next Thursday against Bryant & Stratton College.
