Women's Lacrosse Falls at Widener

CHESTER, Pa.– Eastern University Women's Lacrosse dropped a 23-5 decision at Widener University. Hailey Ferry scored four times to pace the Eastern attack.

The host Pride (5-3, 4-1 MAC Commonwealth) scored five times in the first five minutes to grab control of the game. The Eagles won three early draws, but the Pride were able to force turnovers and convert at the other end.

The Widener lead had grown to eight before Ferry converted a free position shot with 21 minutes left in the half. Ferry controlled the ensuing draw and Ellie Pruitt converted the possession into a goal to trim the Widener lead to 8-2.

Ferry scored once more in the first half on another free position attempt with nine minutes left, but Widener built the lead to 15-3 at the half.

Both teams fired nine shots in the second half, but with the advantage in possession, the hosts were able to convert on eight of their nine attempts.

The Eagles (1-7, 0-6 MAC Commonwealth) will host Stevenson on Saturdayat 1:00 pm.
