Eastern University Track and Field will compete again this weekend at Lebanon Valley College, where the Eagles will look to improve on marks from last weekends event at Messiah University.
Mary Bernotas won the 3000 Meter Steeplechase with a a solid 11:31.95 run in her first time over a water barrier in nearly two years. Bernotas missed qualifying for the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the event by one spot.
Katelyn Bernotas placed second with a 2:20.8 time in the 800 Meters. Working on her finishing strength, her goal for the day was to run faster in the second lap than she did in the first. She did that. Only Messiah's Esther Seeland, the 2019 National Champion in the event, beat her in the run. Seeland ran the fastest DIII time in the nation to win.
Malena Ricks qualified for the MAC Championships with a third place finish in the 100 Meter Dash.
Eastern's Men won two field events in the competition.
