DALLAS, Pa.– A slow start in each of the first two sets put Eastern Men's Volleyball behind, and the Eagles (4-14) were never able to recover in a three-set loss at Misericordia in the final game of the MAC Consolation tournament. The Eagles had earned their spot in the final with a four-set win at Widener, but were unable to capture the same efficiency today.
Foster Lobb led the Eagles with nine kills.
After dropping the first two sets, the Eagles made a line-up switch in the third. The two teams battled to a 19-19 tie, but the Cougars, on a the strength of a pair of stuff blocks, put together two 3-point runs for the match.
"We struggled like we did in the previous matches against Misericordia in passing," Head Coach
Randy Syracuse said after the match. "Though we were positioned well on the block and were playing some solid defense, we didn't take advantage of the transition opportunities needed to win at this level. Though the season was not how we had envisioned it, I am extremely proud of our team. They worked hard in practice and showed heart in every match. We started 3 Freshman 3 sophomores and I like the core of who we have and they are committed to returning even stronger faster better and more experienced next year. "
The Eagles have played at Misericordia all five times the two programs have played.
