Women's Lacrosse Falters at Hood

FREDERICK, MD.– Eastern University Women's Lacrosse (1-2) got off to a slow start in the team's MAC Commonwealth Opener at Hood College. Allison Andres scored a pair of goals in the second half, but it was not enough as the host Blazers emerged with an 18-4win.

The ride to Hood from Eastern is the longest bus ride in the newly-configured league. Though the two-hour plus journey would have been pretty normal in the MAC Freedom in 2019, this year, the journey, in contrast to the team's short trip to Delaware Valley last Saturday,  and the cool and rainy weather proved to be an added challenge.

Though Libby Daniskas made five early saves, the Blazers controlled possession early and had enough defensive pressure to claim the ball back and score the opening eight goals of the match.

Hailey Ferry broke through in the 21st minute, but the momentum was short-lived as Hood closed out the half on a 5-0 run. The hosts enjoyed a 25-5 edge in shots  in building the 13-1 run.

Christina Butler scored early in the second period and Andres added two in the final ten minutes. The Eagles were credited with nine shots in the second half.

Eastern will host Albright at 1:00 pm on Saturday. The Lions (1-2) lost their MAC Commonwealth-opener to Messiah today.
