Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Hoops Falls at Stevenson

OWINGS MILLS, Md.– Eastern University Men's Basketball shot 62 percent from the floor in the second half, but it was not enough to overcome a 12-point deficit and the Eagles dropped their second game in two nights to the Stevenson University Mustangs. Jaron Fariweather finished with a career-high 18 points to pace the Eagles.

Eastern's torrid second half shooting was tempered by 13 turnovers and an inability to stop the host Mustangs from converting at the other end. Both teams scored 45 second half points. The Eagles trailed 50-38 at the half. Though they trimmed the Stevenson lead to 10 twice in the second half, they spent the period chasing the game.

The Eagles scored the first five points of the game before Stevenson scored the next 13 points to take the lead for good. The Stevenson lead grew to 14 points in the closing minutes of the first half before Sam Gallardo converted at the buzzer to give the Eagles a little momentum going into half. Gallardo had 12 points on seven shots to lead the Eagles at the half. Kaeshawn Ward had eight of his 14 points before halftime, and Fairweather had ten at the break to reach double-figures for the first time in his career.

Stevenson made 7-of-15 shots from behind the arc and were 9-of-11 from the foul line. Mckale Williams led all scorers with 12 at the break.

Kent Oleweiler made 4-of 5 second-half shots including both his efforts from long range to score all 11 of his points. For the game, the Eagles played one senior, and two sophomores alongside a dozen first-year players. The Mustanags started two seniors, two juniors, and a sophomore.

The Eagles (0-2) will play at Albright (2-2) on Monday evening.
