READING, Pa. - In its final contest of the 2021 season, Eastern Women's Soccer dropped a 1-0 decision to MAC Commonwealth foe Albright on Saturday. The Eagles (7-8-3, 1-5-2 MACC) fell to 1-7 away from Olson Field, and it was the fifth time in eight road matches this season that they failed to score a goal.
The Lions (9-7-2, 4-4-0 MACC) scored the lone goal of the contest in the 11th minute, capitalizing on an Eagles' turnover in the defensive zone. Off the giveaway, Albright's Diza Hasanaj lofted a pass over the Eastern defense to a waiting Autumn Bieber, who lifted the ball past
Emily Honig to give the Lions a lead they would not relinquish.
The Eagles' best chance of the contest came in the 36th minute.
Madelyn Mullen crossed the ball in front of the net to an open
Sydney Koncsol, but Albright's McKenna Levan made the save to keep the Eagles from finding the equalizer. Eastern rattled off four shots in the final 45 minutes of play but were unable to find twine.
Albright outshot the Eagles by a 13-7 margin, including a 9-2 advantage in the first half.
Cassie Avenick led Eastern with three total shots, while Mullen, Koncsol, and
Brynn Rathsam each finished with one. Honig recorded five saves, while
Grace Schreckengast collected one in relief.
The Eagles end their season with a 7-8-3, which included a 6-1-3 record at Olson Field.
