Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Stopped at Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.– An early run from the host Blue Jays proved to be too much to overcome, and Eastern University Women's Lacrosse dropped a 23-10 decision to end spring break. Meghan Kosmides scored four goals and grabbed a game-high 12 draw controls.

Kosmides scored the opening goal of the game, but the Blue Jays scored the next eight to establish control of the contest. Kosmides added two more first-half tallies, but the Eagles trailed 10-3 at intermission. Eastern (1-1) won 10-of-14 draw controls in the half, but the Eagles only cleared at slightly above 50 percent and had 14 turnovers.

Allison Andres scored off the opening draw of the second half on an assist from Kosmides, and Kosmides provided another helper to Mackenzie Dix off another draw minutes later. The two teams each scored five times in the opening ten minutes of the second half. Molly Dowling, Caitlyn Quizon, and Stephanie Arnold each scored. The five different goal-scorers in a ten-minute stretch is an encouraging sign for the future of the season.

Quizon and Kosmides added the final two Eastern goals of the game. Kosmides is now four away from the program draw-control record and two goals short of 100 for her career.

The Eagles will host Westminster College on Tuesday.
