Baseball Bats Quiet in Loss at Stockton

GALLOWAY, N.J.– Eastern University Baseball entered today's non-league test at Stockton University as the top-scoring team in all Division III. Despite playing a number of seven-inning games through the early part of the year, the Eagles averaged 12.5 runs per game. That number dropped today as the host Ospreys (8-3) pulled away to a 13-2 win. Liam Clarke had the only extra-base hit of the day for the Eagles.

How It Happened:
The Eagles (6-4) put two on in the first, but they did not score. Stockton plated three runs on five hits in the bottom of the first. Stockton added two more in the second and four in the fourth to seize control f the game. By the time the Eagles rallied for two runs in the top of the sixth, the Ospreys had built an 11-0 lead.

After Shane Albertson reached on an infield single, Clarke doubled. Britton Lawrence plated one run with a ground out and Freddy Yahn knocked in Clarke with a single to left. The Eagles were not able to muster another hit in the game.

Michael Gray suffered the loss to fall to 2-1 on the year.

Coach Renauro Says:
"While our bats were quiet, we didn't pitch it well today. We struggled to locate our off-speed pitches and their hitters made the most of it. We will have to get back to playing clean baseball starting with practice tomorrow."

Up Next:
The Eagles jump into MAC Freedom place with a weekend set against Delaware Valley. They will be in Doylestown on Friday and will open up The Yard for a doubleheader on Saturday.
