GALLOWAY, N.J.– Playing in a fifth road game in six outings, Eastern University Women's Soccer came into tonight's away match against the Stockton University Ospreys (5-1) looking to pick up their first midweek win. The hosts scored the only goal of the match in the 16th minute and held on for a 1-0 win.
How It Happened:
The hosts scored their only goal on a tight-angle shot from in close on the left side. Stockton had a 13-1 edge in shots, in the opening half, but
Grace Schreckengast made ten of her 12 saves in the opening half to keep the Eagles within striking distance.
The Eagles (3-3) had a pair of corners in the second half but were unable to find the equalizer.
With the win, the Ospreys take a 5-4-1 edge int he series which dates back to 2003.
Coach Stueck Says:
"We played a good Stockton team tonight. I'm proud of the way we battled. We created more chances after halftime. Ultimately, as a team, we need to focus on allowing less shots, corner kicks, and overall chances."
Up Next:
The Eagles host Neumann at noon on Saturday. The game is one of three home games for Eastern athletics that day and there will be a tailgate with games and music starting at 10 am.
