Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Stopped at DeSales

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. Eastern University Women's Lacrosse entered today's game at DeSales needing a win to earn a spot in the upcoming MAC Freedom Tournament. Though the host Bulldogs led by a game, they were in the same situation. The Bulldogs used an eight-goal burst to pull away in the first half and held on for a 20-9 win. Meghan Kosmides scored four times and Allison Andres added three goals in the loss.

How It Happened:
The Eagles answered an early DeSales goal with an unassisted tally from Mackenzie Dix, but the Bulldogs (10-6, 5-2 MAC Freedom) scored the next eight goals to lead 9-1 with 8:14 to playin the half. Andres and Kosmides had goals to trim the deficit to 9-3 before DeSales answered with back-to-back tallies in the final two minutes. Carly Burns scored her only goal of the game just before halftime to pull Eastern to within seven goals at the break.

The Bulldogs elected to face-guard Sabrina Campbell, and they were able to hold Eastern's second-leading scorer without a shot in the contest. Marcie Spencer made nine of her 16 saves in the second half.

Coach Campbell Says:
"We never stopped fighting. Our attack had many opportunities to close the gap in the first half but we struggled to execute against their zone.

Marcie had her best game of the season. I am proud of how this team has shown fight and grown. Our returning players really stepped in as leaders; Mack and Steph as junior captains. The team, all players, have improved in their ability with the ball and how they work as a unit. This season taught us a lot about lacrosse, game IQ, the importance of decision making and how to use our skill for one another. We are a young team that is just starting to come into a groove offensively and defensively. I'm excited for next year and what this team will be able to do."
