ST. DAVIDS, Pa.– Eastern University Men's Lacrosse earned a decisive 13-3 home win over the visiting Delaware Valley Aggies to set up a game for home-field advantage and the Regular-Season MAC Freedom Title this Saturday. The Eagles (10-6, 6-0) will host the DeSales University Bulldogs who are the last unbeaten team in Division III.
Trent Ashton scored four times to pace the Eastern attack.
How It Happened:
Zach Bauer got the game off to great start for the home side. The junior face-off specialist won the opneing draw and scored seven seconds into the game. The Eagles won 11-of-20 draws on the afternoon, but it was the defense of the close defenders that was the difference. The Eagles led 4-0 after one quarter and 7-1 at halftime.
Cole Millard caused six turnovers in the first half and had seven for the game.
Chris Durning finished with nine ground balls and five caused turnovers.
Eastern's three goalies made 16 stops.
Brett McDonald made ten stops in picking up the win.
Adam Grant came on in the third quarter when McDonald had to serve a penalty. He made five stops in just under 14 minutes.
Kyle Dampman finished the game in goal and made one stop.
Ashton scored twice in the middle of the first period to put the Eagles up 3-0.
Colin Piper finished the first-quarter scoring witha series of changes of direction and a hard overhand shot.
The Aggies broke through on their opening possession of the second quarter before the Eagles responded with three goals before halftime and three more right after the break.
Antonio Yeoman scored from deep for a 5-1 lead. Less than two minutes later, Ashton scored from a tight angle. With two and a half minutes left in the half,
Mark Buannic scored his first of three on the afternoon on a feed from
Sean Fechter.
Ashton opened the third quarter with bounce shot from the edge of the crease. Buannic then scored twice before the Aggies finally solved McDonald a second time on a shot from in close with two and a half mintues to play in the third. McDonald challenged the shot and committed a penalty. The Eastern man-down unit was up to the task on the following sequence, but the Aggies scored their third and final goal of the afternoon on another man-up chance.

Kyle Mulrane scored the final three goals of the game for the Eagles.

Eastern hosts DeSales on Saturday. The Bulldogs have won all 15 games on their schedule this season and have outscored their opponents 197-105 this year. They have won league games by an average of over eight goals per game. The winner of Saturday's game will be the MAC Freedom Regular Season champion and will be the top seed in the MAC Freedom tournament. Misericordia is the third seed, but the fourth seed is still also up in the air. WIlkes hosts FDU-Florham on Saturday. If FDU wins that game, teh Devils will be the four seed. If Wilkes wins and Manhattanville beats King's, the fourth seed will be determined by goal differential. If Manhattanville loses to King's, the winner of the game between FDU and Wilkes will be in the tournament.
