DALLAS, Pa.– Eastern University Baseball found its way into a big hole early and was unable to escape in a 19-0 loss at Misericordia. Luke Gruendl had Eastern's only hit in the game.

With four games slated for this weekend, the Eastern coaching staff hoped to piece together an outing in the only road game of the set. After the Eagles (4-14, 2-4 MAC Freedom) went quietly against Misericordia ace Ian McCole, the Cougars got two off Eastern starter Ian Roth in the bottom of the first.

The game went sideways fast in the second. The Eagles went down in order in the top of the inning and the Cougars scored eight runs on five hits in the bottom of the inning to put the game out of reach. 

Matt Bunjo retired five of the seven batters he faced out of the bullpen. Gruendl broke up McCole's no-hit bid with a one-out single in the sixth. The game was called for darkness.

The two teams will play a doubleheader at The Yard tomorrow.
