HOBOKEN– Eastern University Women's Soccer dropped a 5-0 decision to a very hot Stevens Institute of Technology team on the final day of the regular season. The No. 18 Ducks honored their seniors with an 11th straight win to clinch the MAC Freedom Regular Season title in their first year in the league.
How It Happened:
The Ducks started the game on the front foot and created chances early. They had a shot off the post in the second minute and put a header on the ensuing corner kick wide. They found a goal in the fourth minute and a second in the 18th. The lead grew to 3-0 at the midpoint of the half.
Stevens added two more goals around the hour mark. Today's game was the first league game that the Eagles did not lead at some point.
Nicole Weenink had five shots in her final match.
Grace Schreckengast made 15 saves in goal.
Coach Stueck Says:
"It is of course difficult to end our season on a losing streak, and I know all of us desired a different outcome. There is a lot to be proud of this year, as we scored more goals and allowed far less. However, there is much work to do to get the eastern women's soccer program back to where it needs to be."
"I'm very proud of my seniors, they left it all out on the field this season, and have set a great foundation for the future. They will all be missed."
Up Next:
The Eagles will lose several mainstays to graduation. Next year, the squad will compete on the other side of the Middle Atlantic Conference.
