POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.– Cold-shooting undid Eastern University Women's Basketball in a 72-48 loss at Vassar College.
Da'Naziah Brown scored 14 points to pace the Eagles (1-2).
How It Happened:
After leading 5-2, the Eagles hit a cold spell in the first quarter and trailed 16-10 before Brown connected on a 3-pointer to close the first quarter and bring the Eagles to within striking distance against the host Brewers (1-0).
A 10-0 Vassar run to start the second proved to be too much for the Eagles to overcome. The Brewers built their edge to as many as 17 points before Brown closed out the half with another made 3-pointer. At the half, Brown was 5-for-6 from the field and
Minika Glenn was 2-for-3. The rest of the squad scuffled to 1-for-16 shooting. Vassar made 15-of-34 attempts on the way to the 35-21 lead.
While the Eagles outscored the Brewers 17-16 in the fourth, a 21-10 edge for the home side in the third quarter had already put the game out of reach. Glenn and
Jaelyn Harris each scored 10 points in the game.
